Post Celebration

Now that Star Wars Celebration V is over and I've returned from the hellish humidity of O'Lando we can move on to other craftiness that doesn't always include (but sometimes will!) Star Wars.

Before we do that, I am so proud to announce that the Rebel Legion Quilt sold at auction for $1025 (beating the 501st Quilt from a couple of years ago by more than $300). We've also raised another $100 in patch sales. If you are interested in owning a Rebel Legion Quilt Project Patch, please feel free to contact me (you must be a Member of the Rebel Legion or 501st to purchase one).
I was surprised to find out that it will not be joining it's sister Quilt at Rancho Obi Won in Petaluma, CA.

Moving?

We have been batting the possibility of moving, occasionally looking at places in our neighborhood and generally feeling that when the right place came around, we would know.

My friend Bonnie has described San Francisco renters Karma with us, saying that once you've paid your crazy neighbor/crazy landlord/crackhead transient dues that the perfect place will come around and it will be serendipity. Our biggest issue with our current living situation is our crazy (as I have diagnosed her without having any medical degree whatsoever!) upstairs neighbor. Let's start with her red hot hatred for our dog and a general distaste and fear of our cats. She has night terrors, so occasionally, in the dead of night we are awoken to horror movie quality screams. My own feelings about her generally is that she's still pissed off that Dorothy landed her farmhouse on her sister and that is why she is a malcontent. We've had a couple of run-ins with her including a call to the cops after she verbally attacked my husband when he asked her to turn her music down.

Our goal is to find a single family or duplex with a little yard (somewhere to BBQ!) and a separate space for Tom to work. I like wood floors and a kitchen big enough for me to do some baking. I'd like to stay in my neighborhood, because Harley Quinn already knows it and she is happy here. Parking is a must and a view wouldn't suck.

Cross your fingers for me, all 2 of my readers, we checked out a place down the street from our apartment yesterday and I love it. Great! Now I've jinxed it!

This Will Not Be Artsy or Crafty

My first full day of joblessness has passed.

I was called by my old boss inquiring if I was really gone (despite my 2 week notice) or if I wanted to take a 30 day leave that would require me to return to work in the middle of Star Wars Celebration.

hhhmmmmmm...let me think about that for 1.5 seconds. Nope, I'm gone.
Don't get me wrong, I loved my job for years. Loved the industry I worked in. But things have changed. I got hurt twice in the last couple of months and no one seemed to care. I came home regularly in so much pain that I could barely walk up the stairs to my apartment and bruised to the point of Tom worrying that people might think that he hits me (which is that last thing I could actually imagine happening). I didn't feel safe anymore and nobody was working to fix that. I know that there are people out there who might feel that it was cavalier to leave a job that pays and has benefits in this economy but I had to look at the bigger picture.

So, on my first day A.J. (after job), I slept in till 8:00, where normally I get up at 2:00, Trimmed my hair (yes, by myself!). Gave myself a mani and a pedi. Napped. Rearranged the the kitchen cabinets. Considered packing away many things from the kitchen (maybe later). Watched TV and screwed around on the internet. So far, today I packed away all of my uniforms which I found extremely cathartic. Today I will also resume work on the Rebel Legion Quilt Project which is due in just over a month...frak...
